Bill Jamerson

The Bronson Branch Library will host author, Bill Jamerson of Escanaba, who will give a talk on his new book, BIG SHOULDERS. The program will be Tuesday evening, October 9 and begin at 6:30pm. The historical novel follows a year in the life of a seventeen-year-old youth from Hamtramck who enlists in the CCC in 1937. He joins two hundred other boys in a work camp near Raco in the Upper Peninsula. The adult novel is a coming-of-age story in which Nick Radzinski has to get along with a bully, cope with an overbearing sergeant and try to find who is out to frame him.

Bill Jamerson is an award-winning PBS filmmaker who wrote and produced eleven films during the 1990's. He produced Camp Forgotten-The CCC in Michigan, which aired on over sixty stations nationwide and received the Award of Merit from the Historical Society of Michigan. In 2000, Bill wrote a dozen original songs about the CCC, which he performs at schools, libraries and CCC reunions. In his talk, he will also show a short clip from his film and perform a few songs.
