Credit Reporting Data Breach

Branch:
District

You may have heard yesterday of a major data breach at the credit reporting agency Equifax. If not, it's *really* major: more than half of all US adults just had their names and social security numbers compromised, along with other personal information and potentially even credit card numbers.

Equifax has more information on the breach, along with a utility to check to see if your data was compromised and the ability to sign up for a year of free credit monitoring service. And if you weren't already in the habit of doing so, you should really make sure you are checking your credit card and bank statements at least monthly, but ideally weekly. And keep doing it, because criminals can be patient and could potentially take advantage of your information months from now!
