The Coldwater Branch Library is partnering with Branch County Community Theatre to promote their upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz.
Wizard Art Display
The children's department of the library, Kids' Place, will be displaying artwork inspired by The Wizard of Oz, but you don't have to be a child to submit artwork. Artists of all ages are encouraged to participate. Artwork can be in any medium: paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures...anything!
Drop off your artwork in Kids' Place at the Coldwater Branch Library any time between May 7 and May 26. Art will be displayed from the time it is dropped off until June 2. If you would like your artwork back, please pick it up between June 4 and June 9. Any artwork left after June 9 will be discarded. The art display can be viewed any time the library is open.
Wizardfest
On Saturday, June 2, from 10:00am until noon, be sure to visit downtown Coldwater for Wizardfest to meet all your favorite Oz characters and get pictures and autographs at several downtown businesses. The Yellow Brick Road begins at Integrative Somatics Institute at 73 W. Chicago St. (look for the balloons). Stop by there to get the list of participating shops and get your face painted.
You can continue down the Yellow Brick Road, collecting yellow Lego bricks from Oz characters in the shops along the way to the library. At the library, use those bricks to help build a toy yellow brick road to our "Oz" castle (OK, it's really Hogwarts since they don't make Oz Lego sets, but we can pretend!), then enter your name to win the Lego set!
Also be sure to catch The Wizard of Oz musical presented by Branch County Community Theatre at Tibbits Opera House, May 31 - June at 7:00pm, and June 3 at 2:00pm.
