Library Board Meeting to be Live Streamed for Tonight

Classification:
Coronavirus

In this unprecedented time, we have to be flexible. An executive order by the Governor has required that libraries be closed to the public as of 3pm today, 3/16. As a result, we cannot have the building open to the public as originally planned for tonight's Board meeting. But with no real indication of when things might get back to normal, ignoring library governance for an extended period is also not a good option.

As a local government body, participation from the public is critical to our operation, and it's required by law. But what to do when the law also says no one is allowed in the building? In answer to this question, tonight's BDL Board of Trustees will be live streamed on YouTube, a first for us.

The link to watch the meeting is https://youtu.be/IiBMeY4gRCg, and the meeting starts at 5:30pm. The agenda and packet are available online. We will be monitoring comments on the live stream, as well as any comments emailed to info@BranchDistrictLibrary.org, and staff will read comments received on the submitters' behalf during the two public comment periods of our agenda tonight.

Those wishing to make comments should identify themselves for the record with their actual name. Comments submitted only via a YouTube handle may not be read aloud. Some questions may require research, in which case no answer may be available at the time.

Thank you for you patience and understanding,

John Rucker
BDL Director
