High School is a service club sponsored by the Coldwater Rotary Club. as well as the community of Coldwater. The goals of Interact are quite simple: Since 1991, Interact has been 1.) to promote the idea of service to our local community, and 2) to open young people’ s minds to the world in which we live. We are a sponsor of the Greater Hospice Duck Race and also contribute each year to Branch County’s Walk for Warmth. Over 45 Interact members helped in the construction of Kid’s Kingdom a few years ago and the geography and mathematical designs painted on the playgrounds of Edison and Jefferson schools were done by Interactors At for C.H.S. we have Cardinal Field, given out over $6,000 in scholarships over the past 8 years to needy students, helped to purchase the new sound systern and the “Cardinal” on center court of the new concession stands and put on dances to help raise the money gymnasium was Interact’s contribution to our school. Interact members work needed to fund our various activities One of the truly great projects that we initiated when we started as a club was to invite all the new Exchange Students to be a part of our organization. This has given many considerably. This helps to give them more activities to participate in while they are here in this country. Interact members of them more of an opportunity to interact with American students as well as expanding have one thing incommon; they care about themselves and the greater in school activities and yet they find the time community their circle of friends that they live in. They are very involved to give something back to our school as well as our community This has been a busy and exciting time for our club and we would like to thank the Coldwater Rotary Club for all there help and support. Since 1991, Interact has been providing service to both C.H.S. as well as the community of Coldwater. GRAPHICS �INTERACT CLUB of Coldwater High School In May of 1991, a new service oriented club sponsored by the Coldwater Rotary Club was established at Coldwater High School. This club, known as the Interact Club, has a twofold purpose: 1) to promote the idea of service to our local community, and 2) to open young people's minds to the world in which we live. With those two goals in mind the following will give a partial list of activities that our Club members are involved in In regards to community service we are participating in the State of Michigan's Adopt-A-Highway Program, cleaning up a section of I-69. All Interact members are involved in a tutoring program at either Edison or Jefferson School each Tuesday and Thursday. We organized this year's Christmas in Branch County food drive in the High School and over the past four years, the students have brought in approximately 7 (seven) tons of food to be distributed to the needy. Our organization participates in the Big Brothers/Sisters Bowl-A-Thon; we purchase Christmas gifts for needy children, provide turkeys for Hospice families at Thanksgiving, and try to raise money for various community agencies that are in need. In our six years of operation, we have given over $3,000 to various groups who have needed help in one way or another. We’ve also distributed over $2,000 in scholarships to Coldwater High School graduating seniors. One of the truly great projects that we initiated when we started as a club was to invite all the new Exchange Students to be a part of our organization. This has given many of them more of an opportunity to interact with American students as well as expanding their circle of friends considerably This has been a busy and exciting time for our club and we would like to thank the Coldwater Rotary Club for all their help and support. We would also like to wish them all the best with this year's Rotary Show. Congratulations on a job well done! With those two goals in mind the following will give a partial list of activities that our Club members are involved in In regards to community service we are participating in the State of Michigan's Adopt-A-Highway All Interact members are involved in a tutoring program at either Program, cleaning up a section of I-69. Edison or Lincoln School each Tuesday and Thursday. We organized this year's Project Christmas food drive in the High School and this year over 3000 Ibs. of food was donated. Our organization participates im the Bie Brothers/Sisters Bowl-A-Thon; we purchase Christmas gifts for needy children, provide turkeys for Hospice families at Thanksgiving, and try to raise money for various community agencies that are in need Last year our club provided $500 to Shelterhouse to help them in their move to their new facility and we also provided six scholarships to graduating Seniors. We also helped at the Rotary District Conference held in Coldwater this past spring One of the truly great projects that we initiated when we started as a club was to invite all the new Exchange Students to be a part of our organization. This has given many of them more of an opportunity to interact with American students as well as expanding their circle of friends considerably This has been a busy and exciting time for our club and we would like to thank the Coldwater Rotary Club for all their help and support. Last year our club purchased a sonar device for the Sheriff's dive team to aide in the underwater rescue of potential drowning victims. One fun project that we participated in this year was painting Jefferson School's playground using large educational stencils. We also provide scholarships for needy students going to college.
