Yesterday was Opening Day at Tigers Stadium (they lost to Kansas City, but not without a fight!), so this information from the Library of Congress is especially timely. From the official press release:
"The rich and unique holdings of the Library of Congress include many items that document the history of baseball. Through photographs, personal accounts, films and memoragilia - including baseball cards dating from 1887 - the Library's collections offer a first-hand look at the development of baseball in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
In addition, the web site also offers a sampling of visual images, including photographs of notable baseball figures and subjects as well as selections Webcasts of lectures, as well as unique sound artifacts."
